Langka (Jackfruit) Pastillas

This is a variation of the pastillas de leche where there is jackfruit added for flavoring. Jackfruit or langka is an ideal fruit for pastillas because of its distinctive sweet and strong fruity aroma. Other fruits that is suitable is durian, that is, if you love to eat durian.

To make langka pastillas; In a pan, boil chopped langka in evaporated milk for 3 minutes. Set aside to cool. In another bowl, mix milk-nangka mixture, condensed milk and powdered filled milk until well blended. Form into small logs and wrap in paper then in colored cellophane if desired. To see the complete recipe with lists of ingredients in exact measurements, continue reading.

Ingredients
  

  • 2/3 cup evaporated milk
  • 1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped fresh langka Jackfruit
  • 3 cups powdered filled milk

    I think in canada there are no powdered filled milk. I’ve seen powdered skimmed milk only. where do u buy powdered milk. is that baby milk?

      @jocelyn,
      All powdered milk sold in the Philippines are imported because as far as I know we don’t have a dairy plant to manufacture milk or milk products. So I think in Canada there are plenty of powdered milk sold. Anyway the recipe is not baby milk and you can use skimmed milk for the pastillas.
