Meringue Topping

Ingredients:

3 egg whites
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
6 tablespoons sugar

How to make Meringue Topping

  • Beat egg whites together with salt and cream of tartar to soft peak stage.
  • Add sugar gradually: beat to stiff peak stage.
  • Spread over cooled pie filling and seal edge of crusts.
  • Bake at 350 °F for from 12 to 20 minutes, until lightly brown.
  • Yield: meringue for one inch pie.
