How To Peel a Chayote

TweetPinShareYummly

Like any other vegetables that needs to be peeled like potatoes or carrots, peeling a chayote is easy. But the only problem when peeling it is the sap, a transparent substance that the chayote produce. When peeling it, the sap will stick to your hands and you will feel uncomfortable. To avoid it, there is a trick I’ve learned from my wife when she cooks chayote.

First, you should remove the sap from the vegetable by slicing the tip about 1/2 inch thick. Rub the sliced tip on the top of the chayote in a circular motion. As you can see in the picture, the sap will bubble and becomes white.  No more sticky sap in your hands after doing this procedure. So good luck with your cooking.
