Adobong Kangkong (Okra Or Sigarilyas)

This recipe is a vegetable adobo using kangkong leaves and stems. This is one of the popular vegetable dish because not only it is cheap, it is also tasty and nutritious. Aside from kangkong or swamp cabbage, you can also use sigarilyas or okra in cooking your vegetable adobo.

To cook adobong kangkong; Chop the stem with leaves and pick only the soft part of the stem. Wash sorted kangkong. Saute the garlic. When brown, add kangkong. When partially cooked, add kalamansi juice and bring to a boil. Season with soy sauce and salt. To see the complete recipe with lists of ingredients in exact measurements, continue reading.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 regular bundles of kangkong
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar and pepper
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 5 clove garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon kalamansi juice

Instructions
 

How to cook Adobong Kangkong:

  • Chop the stem with leaves and pick only the soft part of the stem.
  • Wash sorted kangkong. Saute the garlic. When brown, add kangkong.
  • When partially cooked, add kalamansi juice and bring to a boil.
  • Season with soy sauce and salt. Yield: 4 servings.

Note: Okra or sigarilyas may be used instead of kangkong.
